The available source of power at a job site may infl uence the selection
of power tools. For jobs where AC power is readily available, corded power
tools usually offer the most power for the investment. If an air compressor is
already available or if you will be working in an area where fl ammable gases
may be present, pneumatic tools could be a prudent choice. Many jobs are
suited to the use of cordless power tools. The convenient utility of cordless
tools is undeniable, and this convenience can drive the decision about
selecting a power source. If cordless tools are selected, it is wise to select tools
that use the same batteries.
Availability of parts is important when using power tools that have
attachments that require frequent replacement. Brand-name tools are more
likely to accept attachments that are standard or universal. Tools that use
only attachments that fi t a single brand or model should be avoided unless a
ready supply is available.
