Additional cleaning reagents may be required following wet specimen dissections. Follow your instructor’s directions. Discard gloves, soiled clothing, and disposable materials in the marked biohazard waste containers. Discard scalpel blades, including safety scalpels, and all other sharps in appropriate sharps containers. Dispose of items that are not considered biohazard in traditional waste containers. In Case of Accident/Special Cases Should your eyes come into contact with any chemical or specimen, notify the instructor immediately and flush the area with water for a minimum of fifteen minutes at the designated eyewash station. Report all accidents and incidents, even if minor, to an instructor immediately. If you have known allergies to formalin, latex, or other common laboratory items, notify your instructor. If you are pregnant, or suspect you may be pregnant, speak with your physician and your instructor. Additional safety precautions should be taken when working with wet specimens. Note: You have the right to all information regarding chemicals used within an educational laboratory setting. This can be obtained through the Material Safety Data Sheets that are kept on file in the laboratory.
