1 As you begin your college experience, it is important to be mindful, to take time to stop, reflect, and reassess. You will undoubtedly make mistakes, get lost, and fail sometimes. But the overarching goal of this text is to help you build aware- ness and habits that help you be resilient in the face of any and all setbacks. As long as you continue to practice reflection and work toward building positive habits that work for you, you will continue to grow, learn, and thrive. So, as you choose majors, build new friendships, discover new passions, and navigate setbacks, this book will support you in developing an intentional and purposeful approach to college, and life. This book’s ultimate goal is to set you on the path toward owning your experiences, and approaching college and your life with purpose. The authors wish to thank the literally thousands of students who inspired and contributed to our work on this book through our decades of teaching and research, as well as the colleagues and family members who directly influenced and supported this book. Onward. Amy Lee, Margaret Delehanty Kelly, Catherine Lee, and Maggie Bergeron
