Retrieving Trouble Codes
To retrieve trouble codes using a scan tool, fi rst ensure
the correct software cartridge is installed in the tool, if
applicable. Next, locate the data link connector. Ensure
the ignition is in the off position and connect the tool to
the data link connector using the proper adapter. A typical
connection is shown in Figure 22-7. If necessary, connect
the scan tool power adapter after ensuring the battery is
fully charged.
Note: Some vehicle systems may not
function when the scan tool is connected
to the DLC; check the tool and service
information for details.
