About the Authors About the Authors
Terence M. Shumaker is Faculty Emeritus, the former Chairperson of the Drafting
Technology Department, and former Director of the Autodesk Premier Training
Center at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Oregon. Terence taught at
the community college level for over 28 years. He worked as a training consultant
for Autodesk, Inc., and conducted CAD program development workshops around
the country. He has professional experience in surveying, civil drafting, industrial
piping, and technical illustration. He is the author of Goodheart-Willcox’s Process
Pipe Drafting and coauthor of the AutoCAD and Its Applications series.
David A. Madsen is the president of Madsen Designs Inc. (www.madsendesigns.com).
David is Faculty Emeritus and the former Chairperson of Drafting Technology and
the Autodesk Premier Training Center at Clackamas Community College in Oregon
City, Oregon. David was an instructor and a department chairperson at Clackamas
Community College for nearly 30 years. In addition to teaching at the community
college level, David was a Drafting Technology instructor at Centennial High School
in Gresham, Oregon. David is a former member of the American Design Drafting
Association (ADDA) Board of Directors. He was honored with Director Emeritus
status by the ADDA in 2005. David has extensive experience in mechanical drafting,
architectural design and drafting, and building construction. He holds a Master of
Education degree in Vocational Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in
Industrial Education. David is coauthor of the AutoCAD and Its Applications series,
Architectural Drafting Using AutoCAD, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing,
and other drafting and design textbooks.
Jeffrey A. Laurich has been an instructor in Mechanical Design Technology at Fox
Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin, since 1991. He has also taught busi-
ness and industry professionals in the Autodesk Premier Training Center at FVTC.
Jeff teaches drafting, AutoCAD, Design of Tooling, GD&T, and 3ds Max. He created
a certifi cate program at FVTC titled Computer Rendering and Animation that inte-
grates the 3D capabilities of AutoCAD and 3ds Max. Jeff has professional experience
in furniture design, surveying, and cartography. He holds a diploma in Mechanical
Drafting, an Associate of Applied Science degree in Natural Resources Technology,
and a Bachelor of Science degree in Career and Technical Education and Training.
Together with other instructors at FVTC, Jeff has created courses in electric guitar
building and technical illustration.
J.C. Malitzke is president/owner of Digital JC CAD Services Inc. (digitaljccad.com).
He is the former department chair of Computer Integrated Technologies at Moraine
Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois. J.C. was a professor of Mechanical
Design and Drafting/CAD and taught for the Authorized Autodesk Training Center at
Moraine Valley. J.C. has been actively using and teaching Autodesk products for more
than 30 years. He is a founding member and past chair of the Autodesk Training Center
Executive Committee and the Autodesk Training Center Leadership Council. J.C. has
been the coauthor and principal investigator on two National Science Foundation
grants. He has won numerous awards, including: Drafting Educator of the Year by the
Illinois Drafting Educators Association; the Instructor Quality Award by Autodesk;
Autodesk University Instructor Award; Professor of the Year, Co-Innovator of the Year,
and Co-Master Teacher awards at Moraine Valley Community College; and the Illinois
Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year awarded by the Illinois Community College
Trustees Association. J.C. was also one of the recipients of the Top 10 Most Popular
Autodesk University Classes Ever award for his class Compelling 3D Features in
AutoCAD. J.C. is an Autodesk Certifi ed Instructor (ACI) and an Autodesk Certifi cation
Evaluator (ACE), and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in
Industrial Technology from Illinois State University.
