Aligning Objects in 3D Aligning Objects in 3D
AutoCAD provides two different methods with which to move and rotate objects
in a single command. This is called aligning objects. The simplest method is to align g
3D objects by picking source points on the fi rst object and then picking destination fi
points on the object to which the fi rst one is to be aligned. This is accomplished with fi
the
3DALIGN
command, which allows you to both relocate and rotate the object. The
second method is possible with the
ALIGN
command. The
ALIGN
command aligns
2D or 3D objects by selecting three sets of alignment pairs. You first select the source fi
object, then the first source point, and finally fi the first fi destination point on the destina- fi
tion object. This technique is repeated two more times to align one object to another.
This method of aligning allows you to not only move and rotate an object, but scale
the object being aligned.

Move and Rotate Objects in 3D Space
The basic function of moving and rotating an object relative to a second object or
set of points is done with the
3DALIGN
command. It allows you to reorient an object in
3D space. Using this command, you can correct errors of 3D construction and quickly
manipulate 3D objects. The
3DALIGN
command requires existing points (source) and
the new location of those existing points (destination).
