PROFESSIONAL TIP PROFESSIONAL TIP If multiple 3D objects occupy the same space, selection cycling gives you the ability to select the correct object needed to complete the edit. Aligning Objects in 3D Aligning Objects in 3D AutoCAD provides two different methods with which to move and rotate objects in a single command. This is called aligning objects. The simplest method is to align 3D objects by picking source points on the fi rst object and then picking destination points on the object to which the fi rst one is to be aligned. This is accomplished with the 3DALIGN command, which allows you to both relocate and rotate the object. The second method is possible with the ALIGN command. The ALIGN command aligns 2D or 3D objects according to three sets of alignment pairs. You fi rst select the source object, then the fi rst source point, and fi nally the fi rst destination point on the destina- tion object. This technique is repeated two more times to align one object to another. This method of aligning allows you to not only move and rotate an object, but scale the object being aligned. PROFESSIONAL TIP PROFESSIONAL TIP Use the 3DALIGN command to create assemblies. Figure 8-4. Using selection cycling to choose which object to select. Choose which object to select Selection is made
