Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. 374 AutoCAD and Its Applications—Advanced When the section object is in the section volume state, a transparent plane is displayed on each segment of the section object. In addition, a 3D box extends to the XYZ boundaries of the section object. The sectioned object fi ts inside of this box. See Figure 14-32E. To set the section volume state when creating the section object, set the Type option to Volume. NOTE NOTE A section object cannot contain jogs when using the slice section state. If the Type option is set to Slice when you create the section object, the Draw section option is unavailable. Select a face, pick two points, or use the Orthographic option to complete the command. If a section object containing jog segments is changed to the slice section state, AutoCAD displays an alert that the jogs will be removed. Use caution if you decide to proceed, as the results may be different from what you expect. Section Object Properties Once the section object is created, the properties of the section object can be changed. The Section Object category in the Properties palette contains properties specifi c to the section object. See Figure 14-33. These properties are described in the next sections. Name The default name of the fi rst section object is Section Plane(1). Subsequent section planes are sequentially numbered, such as Section Plane(2), Section Plane(3), and so on. It may be benefi cial to rename section objects so the name is representative of the section. For example, Front Half Section is much more descriptive than Section Plane(1). To rename a section object, select the Name property. Then, type a new name in the text box. Section object properties Section object geometry Figure 14-33.
