Image based lighting and other advanced rendering functions are discussed in Chapter 19. PROFESSIONAL TIP PROFESSIONAL TIP A named view can be recalled at any time after being created and is useful for making a rendering. Before you create a named view, establish the viewpoint from which you want to see the fi nal rendering. Set the perspective projection current, if desired. These settings are saved with the view. Solid Backgrounds The background of the scene can be set to a solid color. Refer to Figure 18-20. When the Type: drop-down list in the Background dialog box is set to Solid, the default color is displayed in the Preview area. In the Solid options area of the dialog box, pick the horizontal Color: bar to open the Select Color dialog box. Then, select the back- ground color that you desire. When the Select Color dialog box is closed, the color you picked is displayed in the Preview area of the Background dialog box. Pick the OK button to accept your changes and close the Background dialog box. NOTE NOTE Make sure to do a test rendering with the background color you selected. The result may look quite different from your expectations. Gradient Backgrounds A gradient background can be composed of two or three colors. If you select Gradient in the Type: drop-down list in the Background dialog box, the default gradient colors are displayed in the Preview area. See Figure 18-21. The Top color:, Middle color:, and Bottom color: swatches are displayed on the right-hand side of the Gradient options area. Selecting a swatch opens the Select Color dialog box for changing the color. To create a two-color gradient composed of the top and bottom colors, uncheck the Three color check box. The Rotation: text box provides the option of rotating the gradient. Pick the OK button to accept your changes and close the Background dialog box.
