516 AutoCAD and Its Applications—Advanced Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. the Viewport setting, the rendering is temporary and will disappear once you zoom or pan in the viewport. The Render Size: drop-down list is available if you are rendering to the Render window. The selections in this drop-down list specify the output size of the rendered image in pixels. The seven settings in the top section range from 800 × 600 (SVGA) to 1920 × 1080 (full HDTV). The four settings below the top section are designed for printing the image at 300 dpi (dots per inch) on 8 1/2″ × 11″, 11″ × 17″, ISO A4, and ISO A3 size sheets. Selecting More Output Settings… opens the Render to Size Output Settings dialog box, which provides additional settings for fi le output. See Figure 19-4. The Image Size drop-down list contains the same output sizes available in the Render Presets Manager palette, but you can enter your own width and height using the Width and Height text boxes. Sizes can be entered in pixels, inches, or centimeters by selecting the appropriate format from the Units drop-down list. To maintain the same ratio of width to height when changing the size, check the Lock Image Aspect check box. The Resolution text box setting determines the image resolution. Higher values produce a larger fi le size, but improve the quality of the image when printed. The resolution can be set in pixels per inch or centimeter, which can be thought of as dots per inch or centimeter. A good rule of thumb is to set the resolution close to the maximum resolu- tion of the printer that you will be using. The approximate fi le size resulting from the size and resolution settings is displayed below the Resolution text box. The Save Image area is used to save an image fi le with a specifi ed name and fi le path. If the Automatically save rendered image check box is checked, a fi le is automati- cally saved when the rendering is generated. Check the check box and then pick the Browse… button to specify a fi le name and type. Picking the Render To Size button at the bottom of the dialog box renders the scene using the specifi ed output settings. If a custom output size has been defi ned, it appears in the list of sizes in the Render Presets Manager palette and the Render to Size drop-down list in the ribbon after the rendering is completed. To save the custom output size and close the Render to Size Output Settings dialog box without rendering, pick the Save button. Figure 19-4. The Render to Size Output Settings dialog box.
