Pressure drops at the 3-4 shift valves, and it returns to the downshifted position. Oil pressure is removed from the overdrive clutch, causing it to disengage. The transmission returns to third gear. CVT Pulley Controls All CVTs are electronically controlled. Figure 12-48 illustrates the electronic control system for a typical CVT.
