Chapter 7 Orientation Tolerances 301 Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. Combining Parallelism and Perpendicularity Tolerances Parallelism and perpendicularity controls can be combined using a multiple single- segment feature control frame consisting of two segments, as shown in Example 7-17. This allows versatility by establishing uniform parallelism and perpendicularity for a feature oriented to datums. The sizes of the tolerance zones are often different, but when appropriate, they can be the same. When the tolerance zone sizes are the same, the specified tolerances are still displayed in their own feature control frame segments, as shown in Example 7-18. Goodheart-Willcox Publisher Example 7-17. Combined parallelism and perpendicularity applied to the same surface using a multiple single-segment feature control frame. Goodheart-Willcox Publisher Example 7-18. A multiple single-segment feature control frame with two segments and equal size tolerance zone specifications.
