Lab Introduction The recommended motor for this lab is CSIR 1/4 hp single voltage 115 V open frame motor. Voltage, starting, and operating currents will be taken under normal conditions, and then again with the start circuit disabled. The wind- ing resistance will be measured to check the state of windings. The windings could be open, shorted to each other, or shorted to ground. Note the motor is not connected to a mechanical load. Equipment • Lab board • Safety glasses • Multimeter with inductive clamp • 1—SPST switch • 1—CSIR motor 115 V 1/4 hp open frame • 14 AWG black wire for the hot leg and 14 AWG white wire for the neutral.
