To measure the start winding resistance, the start capacitor cannot be in the circuit. Connect the loose capacitor wire back on the already-connected terminal on the capacitor. The goal is to jumper out the capacitor. Both wires are attached to the same terminal. Look at the diagram on the motor to establish the terminal numbers for the start winding on the motor terminal plate. Remove either of the two wires. Place one probe on the loose wire and the other probe on the connected wire and measure resistance. Record the start winding value. By checking at this location, the centrifugal switch continuity is also checked. 12. Reconnect the start winding terminal. 13. Measure the resistance across the hot and neutral terminals again. Record value. 14. Measure the resistance between the hot to the ground terminal on the motor. Record value. 15. Repeat Step 14 for the neutral connection. 16.
