Chapter 13 Visual Communication: Drawings, Renderings, and Models 467 Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. The specifications and the construction drawings work hand-in-hand to give the builder a more complete understanding of the design installation. Rendering A rendering brings an image to life—it is the visual enhancement of any drawing through the application of color, value, and texture. It is a common visual presen- tation technique all design disciplines use. Rendering brings a three-dimensional human quality to otherwise two-dimensional images. From an interior view, the goal is to render the space in a realistic way. This enhances the client’s ability to visual- ize the space before building or installation begins. The designer often uses colors and textures that represent the client’s interior when rendering. See Figure 13-38. Jeff Curcio, Point of View, LLC/Designed by ForrestPerkins.
