Name ________________________________________________________________ Date ________________________ Class ________________ 69 Activity 6.1 Muscle Identification Worksheet Review the location, attachment, and actions of the major skeletal muscles. Activity 6.2 Agonist vs. Antagonist Muscles Laboratory Investigation Explore various concentric, eccentric, and isometric contractions involved in common movements, identifying agonist and antagonist components. Activity 6.3 Manual Muscle Testing Laboratory Investigation Perform manual muscle testing of several of the major muscles in the human body. Activity 6.4 Soft Tissue Palpation Laboratory Investigation Accurately identify and palpate major soft tissue landmarks through surface anatomy of the human body. Activity 6.5 Basic Gait Analysis Laboratory Investigation Investigate gait cycles and compare the muscle movements and joint actions in normal and abnormal gaits. Muscle tissue is unique in its ability to contract and relax. This ability allows cardiac muscle to pump blood throughout the body it allows skeletal muscles to work together to move bones, ligaments, and other tissues, providing both locomotion and the ability to do both coarse and fine tasks. It also allows smooth muscle to perform acts related to breathing, digestion, and even elimination. Completing the activities for Chapter 6 will provide a better understanding of skeletal muscles and how they work together to produce motion.
