Start with the Unit Opener 1. Read the unit number and title. 2. See what chapters are included in the unit. Think about what information you are excited to learn. 3. Complete the Warm-Up Activity. Some Warm-Up Activities ask you to come back to them after reading the chapters in the unit, so do not throw away your completed activity. Read each of the scenarios below. Then, on a separate sheet of paper, list all of the possible pros and cons to each of the scenarios from the person’s perspective in the scenario. Consider short-term and long-term pros and cons if this behavior continues. Share your answers with a partner. Add to your pros and cons list based on your partner’s responses. During this unit, you will learn more about tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. After you finish reading the chapters, revisit these scenarios and add to or change your answers. Mason does not want James to tease him for not drinking. Scenario 3 While at the school dance, several of Kristina’s friends invite her to meet in the bathroom to smoke marijuana.
