The  headers  center  on  the  stretchers  and  on  the  joints  between  the  stretchers.  The  stretchers  all  line  up  vertically,  one  over  the  other.  Two  methods  can  be  used  to  start  the  English  bond  at  a  corner—1/4  closure  or  a  3/4  closure.  See  Figure  12-53.  12.3.7  Constructing  a  10″  Brick  Masonry  Cavity  Wall  Construction  of  a  cavity  wall  involves  basic  bricklay-  ing  techniques  however,  no  bridge  of  solid  material  capable  of  carrying  water  across  the  minimum  2″  cav-  ity  space  should  be  permitted.  The  construction  of  two  separate  wythes,  with  a  clean  cavity,  is  the  objective.  See  Figure  12-54.
