You can also start the Memory Diagnostics Tool from the command line.
To do this, right-click
Command Prompt
in the
Start
menu. Select
Run as
administrator
from the shortcut menu. You will be prompted that Windows needs
your permission to continue. Click Continue. Enter
mdsched
at the command
prompt.
Figure 15-26 shows the
Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool
dialog box. Notice
that the test can be performed immediately or scheduled to run the next time the
computer is started. The
Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool
in progress looks
similar to that in Figure 15-27. Notice that the status of the memory diagnostics
appears on the screen in text mode, not graphic mode. The progress of the tests is
presented as a bar graph and as a numerical percentage. Any problems identified
are also presented on the screen.
