Textbook Supplements
The textbook is just one part of a carefully designed package of products. Used
together, these products help students and instructors achieve maximum benefi t from
the course. A Study Guide and a Companion Website reinforce the textbook content
and allow students to practice and build their skills. Instructors are provided with
an Instructor’s Resource CD, the Instructor’s Presentations for PowerPoint, and
an
ExamView®
Assessment Suite for creating and managing tests for each chapter.
Descriptions of these products follow.
Study Guide
Students will fi nd helpful tools in the Study Guide. The guide, which follows
the organization of the textbook, can be used to review the text content and test
comprehension. Each chapter contains a chapter notes section that outlines key chapter
content, including mathematical formulas. A chapter review section contains questions
that test comprehension of key terms and concepts. Answers to Study Guide questions
and activities are also given.
Companion Website
The website is located at
www.g-wlearning.com/culinaryarts/
and contains
copies of the spreadsheet application activities found in the Applying
Your Knowledge section at the end of most chapters. Activities can be
completed on the website using spreadsheet software. Students can save
their spreadsheet fi les in a location designated by the instructor, such as on the school’s
computer network or on students’ own fl ash drives. A standard naming convention
should be created for documents. The textbook recommends that fi les be named as
follows: FirstnameLastname_Activity#-##.xlsx (i.e., JohnSmith_Activity4-13.xlsx). The
answers to the website problems are provided in the instructor’s resource materials.
In addition to the spreadsheet activities, the website includes e-fl ash cards and
matching activities that students can use to quiz themselves on vocabulary terms.
Instructor’s Resource CD
The Instructor’s Resource CD contains information useful to instructors as they
teach the course. It includes answer keys to the end-of-chapter review questions and
activities that appear in the textbook. Detailed chapter outlines are available on the CD,
as well as blank copies of many of the forms and fi nancial reports referenced in the
textbook, such as the operations budget form and the cashier’s report.
Instructor’s Presentations for PowerPoint and
ExamView
Assessment Suite
Instructors can use the presentation slides to supplement lecture materials and
