College and Career Readiness Portfolio
A portfolio can contain different items, depending on the
purpose for the portfolio. The same or similar items could be
included in a portfolio that you use when applying for a
volunteer or paid work position. Portfolios may also be used
when applying for a program of study in high school or after.
For example, you could include school transcripts, diplomas,
and awards. If you are applying for a community service
position, you may want to have some items that are different.
For example, you might want to include letters from teachers
or youth group leaders that discuss how you are qualified for
a position. A checklist of items that could be included in your
portfolio can be helpful as you work on your portfolio. Do
research and then create your own checklist.
1. Search the Internet for articles that discuss items to
include in a portfolio.
2. Create a checklist to use as an ongoing reference
as you create your portfolio. Note items that will be
helpful when applying for a job, to a college, or for a
community service position.
