15. Science. Divide a sheet of
paper into three columns. In the
first column, list the four areas
of growth and development.
In the second column, write
examples of how you have
changed during the past year
in each area of growth. In the
third column, write examples of
how you would like to change in
each area during the year ahead.
Think about how the changes
listed in the second and third
columns will help you grow
toward adulthood.
16. Social Studies. Role-play
a situation in which you
are visiting a friend’s home
and do not behave properly.
Discuss how you can change
your behavior. Role-play the
situation again showing the
correct behavior.
17. Speech. Play the telephone
game. As a class, sit in a circle.
Your teacher will give a student
a phrase. This student will
whisper it to the next student.
Continue until it has been
passed around the circle.
The last student will repeat
the phrase aloud. Have the
first student read the original
phrase aloud. Compare the
two versions. Discuss the
importance of feedback and
communicating effectively.

18. Think of a family situation that
might cause challenges. Write
how you would react to the
challenge. Ask a parent and
a brother or sister how they
would react. Take notes and
compare the answers. Share
your findings with your family.
Discuss how you can learn to
understand one another better
when family challenges occur.
Then develop an FCCLA Family
Ties project for the Power of
One program. Obtain further
information about this program
from your FCCLA advisor.
