Ask yourself the questions in Figure 1-3. You may think of others.
Some of your answers may please you, and some may not. Your answers,
however, should be honest. These answers will give you a true picture of
your own personality. Then you are ready to plan for changes.
Some changes you can work on alone. For others, you may need the
help and advice of other people. Ask your parents, teachers, or other adults
what they think about your ideas. Their comments may help you as you try
to understand yourself. Try to be patient as you work on improving your
personality and your appearance. Remember that changes do not happen
at once. They take time.

• Your development is the result of both heredity and environment.
