Adornment, or attractive decoration, has
been found in all civilizations throughout history.
It enhances a person’s self-concept, providing
a psychological feeling of well-being through
beauty, 1-5. Beauty is a quality that gives
pleasure to the senses and a positive emotional
reaction. It also can attract the opposite sex and
create envy in rivals. Most psychologists believe
that adornment is essential to human life.
