Some people select comfortable clothing
because they value their own comfort, 1-11.
Others choose bargains because they value
economy. Some people prefer the latest look in
clothes, or expensive items, because they want
to be noticed and gain prestige.
Advertising can infl uence people’s values
and attitudes. Ads try to create a stronger desire
for particular products. They play to consumer
desires for economy, status, easy care,
adventure, and comfort.

may need economy, but probably also want sex
appeal. Prestige and status may be desired
during middle age, and comfort is important,
again, to the elderly.
