26. Many restaurants and food manufacturers estimate the cost of the ingredients
equals about 40 percent of the price of a food product. The remaining 60 percent
of the product price covers such costs as labor, facilities and equipment, license
fees, utility bills, transportation, and advertising. Use this information to make a
poster showing the calculated food cost and “other” cost of fi ve food products.

27. As a class, plan an event in the community to raise funds for a hunger-relief
organization. Put together a brochure to help educate the public about how food is
a physical need. The brochure should go on to describe that having this need met
is a basic right of every human being. You can distribute the brochure at the event
