Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. iii About the Author Dr. Stephanie Clemons, Ph.D., FASID, FIDEC, has been a professor of interior design for over 25 years at Colorado State University (CSU). She has been the recipient of both the Outstanding Teacher and Advisor awards from her college, Best Teacher award from the Alumni Association, the University Distinguished Teaching Scholar award (2014), and the Board of Governors Undergraduate Excellence in Teaching award (2015) from the campus. For the last 15 years, her research focus has involved working with high school interior design instructors. Within the profession, Dr. Clemons has served in numerous leadership positions including President of both the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) and the IDEC Foundation. In addition, Dr. Clemons has been Chair of the Journal of Interior Design and Chair, K-12 Network. She is currently serving as Chair of the National Board of Directors for the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Dr. Clemons was awarded the Fellow Award from both IDEC and ASID in recognition of her contributions to their organizations and the fi eld of interior design. Dr. Clemons has also cochaired the development of high school interior design standards for the state of Colorado, codeveloped teaching modules for high school interior design teachers (see the IDEC website), served as one of the developers for the AAFCS Pre-Professional Assess- ment and Certifi cation for Interior Design Fundamentals Assessment and Credential, authored 4HCC interior design lesson plans, served on a subcommittee for revisions to the national Housing and Interior standards, participated in textbook adoption processes, coauthored the STAR Event Interior Design Competition Scenario for high school interior design students for four years, and offered many workshops for interior design instructors in a three-state radius. Dr. Clemons offers an online residen- tial interior certifi cate for high school interior design teachers through her institution.
