About the Authors
Linda Stanhope is the Health Science department head and
learning leader for the Amarillo Independent School District in
Texas. She has been an instructor for more than 20 years and a
Health Science Technology curriculum writer for the state of Texas
for the past 14 years. Currently, she works with fi rst-year Health
Science Technology instructors as a new-teacher training specialist
at the annual Professional Development Conference each summer.
In addition, Stanhope serves as an Advisor for Health Occupations
Students of America (HOSA) and works with National HOSA to train
new advisors. She is a member of the Advisory Board for both the
Certifi ed Medical Assistant Program and the Paramedicine Program
of Amarillo College. Throughout her career, she has earned major
awards including the Health Science Lifetime Distinguished Teacher
Award and Texas Health Occupations Teacher of the Year. Stanhope
holds a Bachelor of Occupational Education degree from Wayland
Baptist University.
Kimberly Turnbull is a Health Science Technology instructor in
the Abilene Independent School District in Texas, where she has
taught for more than a decade. A Certifi ed Nursing Aide instructor
and supervisor for more than 13 years, she is the Nurse Aide Training
Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) Director for Abilene
ISD. Turnbull began her career as a nurse for Hendrick Medical
Center in Abilene, where she specialized in the areas of Medical-
Surgical Nursing, Skilled Nursing, and Intensive Care. She has
earned multiple awards for her outstanding achievements in Health
Science Technology education, including the Texas Outstanding
Teacher in Community Service Award from the Association for
Career and Technical Education (ACTE) and the Teacher Tribute
Award from Abilene High School. She is a member of the Texas
Health Occupations Association (THOA) and Health Occupations
Students of America (HOSA), and she has served as a board member
for HOSA. Turnbull earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
from Morningside College. In addition, she holds a certifi cate in
Applied Technology, Training, and Development from University of
North Texas.
