Formatting Text
Formatting text means changing the appearance of the characters.
Bold, italic, and underline are examples of text formatting. Other
examples include making the characters larger or smaller, striking a line
through them, and changing their color. Formatting changes are applied
to selected text or the text where the insertion point is located.
Fonts
A typeface is a design of characters. In common usage, the term font
is used to mean typeface, although technically these are not the same
thing. Common typefaces are Arial, Times New Roman, and Courier.
Dozens of typefaces are installed with Windows and Microsoft Office. In fi
Microsoft Offi the typeface is selected in the fice,
Font
group on the
Home
tab of the ribbon. Click the
Font
drop-down arrow to see a list of installed
fonts. The name of a font appears in a preview of the typeface. To change
the typeface of the selection, click the font name in the list.
The size of the selected text can be changed using the
Font Size
text
box or drop-down list in the
Font
group on the
Home
tab of the ribbon.
