x The following changes were made to the seventh edition of Machine Trades Print Reading to strengthen the integrated learning solution and to remain current with industry standards: ■ ■ New drawing and print reading activities were added to Unit 2—Visualizing Shapes, Unit 7—Dimensions and Tolerances, Unit 8—Contours, and Unit 17—Assembly Drawings to provide students with additional practice. ■ ■ Unit 15—Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing was revised to reflect the current ASME Y14.5-2018 standard. Notable changes include the removal of concentricity and symmetry. ■ ■ The activity prints at the end of each unit were updated to comply with the most current dimensioning standards. ■ ■ The addition of the end-of-unit Summary to aid in reading comprehension and reinforcement of key topics. ■ ■ Up-to-date pedagogical features give instructors and students a learning edge, including questions at the end of each unit. For this edition, new types of questions include:■ ■ Know and Understand questions. These questions provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate knowledge, identification, and comprehension of unit material. ■ ■ Critical Thinking questions require students to make connections beyond the text. These questions extend student learning and develop higher-order thinking skills. ■ ■ Apply and Analyze questions. These questions, also based on unit content, extend learning by helping students analyze questions and apply knowledge. ■ ■ Updated digital offerings provide the foundation and tools that improve student retention and facilitate instructor efficiency.
