Chapter 5 Measurement 101 Chapter Name __________________________________ Date _____________ Class _____________ Pressure Measurement Exercises For this exercise, an analog or digital pressure gauge and a refrigerant cylinder or refrigeration system will be required. A gauge manifold may be used. Attach the pressure gauge to the refrigerant cylinder or the system, following all safety procedures and EPA regulations. If you are not sure how to do this, be sure to ask your instructor to show you the proper attachment procedure. Exercise 5-8 1. What is the pressure reading shown on the gauge? __________ 2. What is the unit of measurement? (psi, kg/cm2, kPa, etc.) __________ 3. What type of refrigerant is in the cylinder or system? __________ 4. What is the corresponding saturation temperature for the refrigerant at that pressure? If the gauge does not have the corresponding temperature scale, consult the pressure-temperature (P/T) chart at the end of this exercise or a chart from a manufacturer or supply house to find the proper value. __________ 5. Select three other refrigerants listed on an available pressure-temperature (P/T) chart If the cylinder or system m was filled with one of these refrigerants and read the same pressure measured, what would the saturation temperature be? Record the values for each of the other three refrigerants selected. R-__________ __________ R-__________ __________ R-__________ __________ (Continued)
