54 Modern Commercial Wiring Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. Tables and annexes—Chapter 9 contains many tables. The appendices contain additional information related to the Code. These items are listed in Figure 4-16. Within the Code, chapters are divided into articles. Each article is identifi ed with a three- digit number. The fi rst digit of the article num- ber identifi es the chapter in which the article is located. Article 300—Wiring Methods is the fi rst article in Chapter 3. Each article addresses a specifi c topic. Most articles consist of several parts, which are identifi ed by letters. The parts help to orga- nize the article and make it easier for the user to locate a specifi c item. The parts are then divided into sections, with the sections further divided into subsections. Almost all references in the Code and in this text are section references. For example, a ref- erence to Section 344.10(B)(2) directs the user to subpart (2) of subsection (B) of Section 344.10. Section 344.10 is found in Article 344. See Figure 4-17. Goodheart-Willcox Publisher Figure 4-15. Chapter 8 of the Code contains the requirements for communication systems.
