it is not practical to use a 45° joint, an elbow can be added on the branch to produce an angle that will make the connection possible, Figure 19-14. Once the changes have been made as indicated by the trial assembly, the pipe and fittings can be permanently joined. Do not cover the pipe until the inspection is complete. Installing a Bathroom Stack The procedures for installing the bathroom stack are similar to those described for the kitchen/laundry stack. The techniques described previously for the kitchen/laundry stack will not be repeated in this section. Rather, the focus will be on differences between the two installations. Before beginning work on the DWV piping for the two bathrooms, review the schematic of the piping, Figure 19-15. Work begins by putting the tubs in position and temporarily placing the closet flanges in the openings that were prepared earlier. Installing tubs and shower bases is the first step. It is best to follow the manufacturer’s direc- tions when performing this work otherwise, the guarantee may be void. Bathtubs and showers are installed in at least four different ways: • Recessed • Sunken • Corner • Peninsular Wye To bathroom stack To laundry/ kitchen stack Wye To bathroom stack To laundry/ kitchen stack 22½° ell To building sewer To building sewer Option 1 Option 2 Goodheart-Willcox Publisher Figure 19-14.
