This air conditioner is connected to its disconnect with LFMC. 10.7 Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit Liquidtight flexible metal conduit (LFMC) fl is a fl exible steel or aluminum conduit with fl a continuous plastic sheath that makes it watertight. This system is easy to install and can be used in most locations. In residential installations, LFMC is typically used to con- nect a central air conditioner unit to a discon- nect. See Figure 10-19. CODE ALERT Grounding and Bonding FMC Section 348.60 describes grounding and bond- ing requirements for FMC. An equipment grounding conductor must be used if FMC is used to connect equipment where flexibility is necessary to minimize the transmission of vibra- tion from equipment or to provide flexibility for equipment that requires movement after instal- lation. Where flexibility is not required after installation, FMC shall be permitted to be used as an equipment grounding conductor when installed in accordance with Section 250.118(5).
