xiii New to This Edition The following changes were made to the 12th edition of Modern Residential Wiring to strengthen the integrated learning solution and to remain cur- rent with professional codes: Content and tables have been updated to correspond with the 2020 version of the National Electrical Code® (NEC®). Chapter 8 has been updated to address code and table revisions as they apply to conductors. Additional updates have been made in other chapters, where appropriate, to address code revisions to topics such as service equipment and motors. Up-to-date pedagogical features give instructors and students a learning edge, including questions at the end of each chapter. For this edition, new types of questions include: Know and Understand questions. These autogradable questions provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate knowledge, identifi cation, and comprehension of chapter material. Apply and Analyze questions. These questions, also based on chapter content, extend learning by helping students analyze questions and apply knowledge. Critical Thinking questions require students to make connections beyond the text. These questions extend student learning and develop higher-order thinking skills. The addition of EduHub, an easy-to-use learning hub, provides the foundation and tools that improve student retention and facilitate instructor effi ciency. For the student, EduHub provides an eBook with text-to-speech capabilities, highlighting, and bookmarking.
