Note: Listings with status "Similarity of Appearance" are not included in the totals. Some animal species (13 in the United States and 8 Foreign) are counted more than once in the above table, primarily because these animals have distinct population segments (each with its own individual listing status). 2There are 605 distinct active (Draft and Final) recovery plans. Some recovery plans cover more than one species, and a few species have separate plans covering different parts of their ranges. This count includes only plans generated by the USFWS (or jointly by the USFWS and NMFS), and only listed species that occur in the United States. United States listings include those populations in which the United States shares jurisdiction with another nation.
