Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. Chapter 8 Consumer Services 217 Figure 8.14 Consumers can write a complaint letter to a store’s corporate headquarters or the product manufacturer if their problem cannot be resolved at the store. What can consumers do if the problem is not resolved after the letter of complaint? 7251 Autumn Lane Peoria, IL 61604 May 23, 20XX Ms. Ellie Smith Director of Customer Service ABC Company 481 Court Street East Peoria, IL 61611 Dear Ms. Smith: I recently purchased a bicycle from your ABC Company, and have enclosed a copy of my receipt. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase. However, there is one problem that I am having for which I cannot get a fair resolution. From the first day of delivery of the bicycle on May 18, both wheels have had a slight warp to them. When I returned the bicycle to the shop on May 22, I was told that this is not covered under warranty and that I would have to pay for the repair. Because this is a new bicycle, I think you would agree that it should work as advertised. I am not asking for unreasonable compensation, I would just like to have the wheels in working order. I am hoping that you will approve the needed repair at cost to ABC Company. If you are not authorized to approve this, please let me know whom I should escalate this situation to at ABC Company. Thank you for your attention to this problem. Sincerely, Lena Zheng Enclosure
