They work with clients to solve consumer issues. They can also help people plan their education, career, and fi nancial goals. Counseling and Mental Health Services The counseling and mental health services fi eld involves helping people maintain healthy, productive lives. This is achieved through therapy, counseling, and education or training. Common counseling and mental health services positions include counselors, psychologists, and other paraprofessionals (trained workers who assist qualified professionals). Counseling and mental health services workers work in settings that include clinics, research labs, schools, group homes, and hospitals. They also work in corporate settings, promoting positive relationships among employees. Counseling and mental health services workers know about human behavior. They frequently work with mental health issues, substance abuse, eating disorders, special needs, family relationships, and career and life counseling. Early Childhood Development and Services Early childhood development and services workers understand and meet the needs of infants, toddlers, and young children. Common careers in this fi eld include nannies, child care workers, teachers, and administrators.
