v New to This Edition The 11th edition of Print Reading for Industry represents a significant revision, with a new four-color design new and revised figures, drawings, and industry prints and significant updates reflecting the latest ASME and AWS standards. Some of the more noteworthy changes to this edition include the following: • An upgrade to four-color design, with the addition of new images and updated art, provides a more modern, timeless feel and allows new print readers to more readily learn and discern the alphabet of lines necessary to read and interpret industry prints. • Content related to computer-generated prints and the automatic generation of multiview drawings, section views, auxiliary views, and screw thread representations provides new print readers with knowledge of the most up-to-date practices and representations they are likely to encounter in the field. • Updated information to match the latest ASME and AWS standards ensures students learn the latest, best-practice methods for drawing and reading industry prints. Content reflects the latest standard (ASME Y14.5-2018) for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), but students also learn enough about discontinued practices to be ready should they encounter older prints in real-world situations. • Unit 5 now offers greater coverage of multiview drawings and object visualization, including revised and expanded exercises to allow new print readers more practice with the essential but often challenging skills of spatial reasoning and visualization. • New 3D model PDF files for select parts featured in the text can be used by instructors to assist students with visualization practice, and they can be used for 3D printing, where available. • Up-to-date pedagogical features provide students a learning edge. New unit summaries and review questions, including critical thinking questions, along with updated print reading questions using industry prints, allow students greater reinforcement of both the unit and cumulative textbook knowledge.
