School to Career
The future is now.
School to Career
will help you succeed in school and in your future career.
School to Career was designed with you, the student,
in mind. Current issues and a fresh presentation of
concepts invite you to connect with this text.
Exploring the many career options available will help
you find the career path that is just right. To help you
investigate career opportunities, a Career Snapshot
opens each chapter with information about the 16
Career Clusters. This feature gives specifics about each
career, including what someone who has that career
does day-to-day, what the work itself is like, and what
education and skills are needed for that career.
What’s next? That’s a question that is probably at the front of your mind right now. The best way to
be prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead is to have a plan. The on-going Lifespan
Plan activity provides a project-based, hands-on learning experience with real-world applications.
By completing a Lifespan Plan, you will develop a route to achieve your life goals. You will explore
career selection, education and training opportunities, lifestyle goals, and uncover financial resources
necessary to reach those goals.
It is all about getting ready for college and your
future career. College and Career Readiness
activities address literacy skills to help prepare
you for the real world. The Common Core
State Standards for English Language Arts for
reading, writing, speaking, and listening are
incorporated in a Reading Prep activity as well
as end-of-chapter Common Core activities.
Common Career Technical Core Career Ready
Practices are also addressed.
