Contact the organization well in advance of the next competition. This will give you time to review and decide which competitive events are correct for you or your team. 2. Read all the guidelines closely. These rules and regulations must be strictly adhered to or disqualifi cation can occur. 3. Competitive events may be written, oral, or a combination of both. 4. Communication plays a role in all the competitive events, so read which communication skills are covered for the event you select. Research and preparation are important for a successful competition. 5. Go to the website of your organization for specifi c information for the events. Visit the site often as information changes quickly. 6. Select one or two events that are of interest to you. Print the information for the events and discuss your interest with your instructor.
