Monitoring Performance The default view of the Performance Monitor displays a few key counters, as shown in Figure 3-1. These include information related to the memory, network interface, physical disk, and processor (CPU). To display detailed information and to change counters or other settings, click the Performance Monitor branch in the tree in the left-side pane. The view changes to display processor utilization in a line graph, as shown in Figure 3-2. Another way to monitor data is to use data collector sets. A data collector set gathers information and saves it as a report so the information can then be further studied. Data collectors are created as if you were viewing data in real time. In addi- tion, alerts can be created with a data collector set to inform instantly if there is a spike in a performance indicator.
