Digital Communication
Much communication today is done by digital means. You may
see many examples of digital communication every day. E-mail, text
messages, tweets, and social media posts are all examples. Digital
communication is the exchange of information through electronic
means. Users must be responsible when using technology to
communicate. Digital literacy and digital citizenship are important
aspects of digital communication.
Digital Literacy
Having digital literacy skills is a key to good digital
communication. Digital literacy is the ability to use technology to
locate, evaluate, communicate, and create information. According
to the US federal government, digital literacy skills include the
following.

Using a computer or mobile device, including the mouse,
keyboard, icons, and folders.

Using software and applications to complete tasks, such as word
processing and creating spreadsheets, tables, and databases.

Using the Internet to conduct searches, access e-mail, and
register on a website.

Communicating online, which includes sharing photos and
videos, using social media networks, and learning to be an
informed digital citizen.

Helping children learn to be responsible and make informed
decisions online.
