Introduction
As you learned in Unit 1, construction draw-
ings are organized into categories and trade dis-
ciplines as they relate to a construction project.
Architectural drawings show the materials and
construction processes that defi ne the struc-
ture and create the fi nal space for the building.

Architectural
Drawings
Architectural drawings represent the core of the
drawing set and serve to pull the entire project
together. As discussed in Unit 1, drawings in
this classifi cation are typically prefi xed with the
letter A. Architectural drawings normally com-
pose one of the largest sections in the set of con-
struction documents, Figure 9-1.
Information on architectural drawings includes
materials used for exterior and interior wall cov-
erings, such as brick, metal siding, and drywall.
