the Distinguished Achievement Award, the Award of Recognition from Arizona
State University, and the French Legion of Honor Medal. He served as chair and
member of many local, regional, and national professional and social groups. In
addition to Graphic Communications, Dr. Prust authored several textbooks as
well as articles in professional publications. Two awards have been given in his
name since he retired: the Z.A. (Zeke) Prust Award of Recognition at Arizona State
University and the Z.A. Prust Industry Achievement Award, Printing Industries
Association, Inc., of Arizona.
Peggy B. Deal has been a graphic designer for more than 40 years, is a
graduate of Indiana University with a BA in fine arts and graphic design, and
is the owner of Deal in Design. She transitioned from traditional typesetting
and printing technology to embrace the current digital revolution. In addition
to her graphic design firm, she is the Graphic Design program director for the
Fredrick D. Kagy Education Award of Excellence–winning program at Scottsdale
Community College in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she teaches Typography,
Digital Prepress, Graphic Design Self Promotion, Graphic Design I, II, and
III, and Creative Brand Strategy. Peggy has received several industry awards
including the Z.A. Prust Industry Achievement Award, the Maricopa Community
Colleges Adjunct of the Year award, and the Excellence in Service Award from the
Printing Industries of Arizona/New Mexico. She is the Chairman of the Graphic
Communications Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) that works with high school
teachers and students, providing support, awareness, and financial endowments
to encourage the advancement of instruction in the graphic communications
industry. She coauthored the graphic design standards for the Arizona Career
and Technical Education program. Peggy also sits on several advisory boards
for high school and community college programs throughout the state and chairs
the SkillsUSA regional and state competitions. She is the Operations Director
for the Arizona chapter of the Adobe InDesign User Group and the advisor for
the CreativeConnect SCC, a networking club designed to unite all creatives on
the Scottsdale Community College campus. While graphic design is her chosen
profession, teaching is her passion.
