Licensing Agreement
A licensing agreement is a contract that gives one party permission
to market, produce, or use the product or service owned by another
party. The agreement grants a license in return for a fee or payment.
When buying software, the purchaser agrees to follow the terms of
a license. A license is the legal permission to use a software program.
All software has terms of use that explain how and when the
software may be used. Figure 10-2 explains the characteristics of
different software licensing.
