For instance, women need more iron than men. Someone who has a large body build needs more food than someone who has a small build. People who perform hard physical work need more nutrients than those who lead less-active lives, 13-10. Nutritional needs vary with age as well as with gender, body size, activity level, and health. Needs change across the lifespan.
