Lesson 2-3
Using Labels
When Gmail users create custom labels, they can group similar messages
together. Within a custom label, users can create sublabels to further group
related messages.
Creating a Label
1. Click
More
in the list of labels or move the cursor over the list of labels to
see the expanded list.
2. Click the
Create new label
link. The
New Label
dialog box shown in
Figure 2-9 is displayed.
3. In the
Please enter a new label name:
text box, enter Reunions.
4. Click the
Create
button to create the label.
5. The
Reunions
label appears in the list of labels on the left.
Assigning a Color to a Label
6. Move the cursor over the
Reunions
label so it is highlighted.
7. Click the button to the right of the label name to display a drop-down
menu, as shown in Figure 2-10.
8. Click
Label color
in the drop-down menu, and click a color swatch in the
cascading menu.
9. The selected color appears as a small square to the right of the label, and
a message stating that the color has been changed is displayed at the top
of the page.
