Ask the patient to sit in a comfortable position, with hips and knees flexed at 90 degrees. 15. Ask the patient to move the left hip into about 110 degrees of flexion by lifting the thigh off the chair, as shown in Figure 6.3C. 16. Apply a gentle downward pressure on the thigh, attempting to push the hip toward the chair. Provide a verbal cue for the patient to contract the hip flexor and produce an isometric contraction, preventing the hip from moving into extension. Perform this test for no more than 5 seconds.
