The media includes the various forms of mass communication, such as television, radio, magazines, newspapers, and the Internet. Articles written for the media inform you of the latest trends in fashion. Television shows and websites feature fash- ions celebrities are wearing. Advertisements show you what is currently avail- able in stores and on sale. All of these media outlets infl uence what you choose to buy and wear, 1-10. They can be helpful and informative, but the main intent may be to get you to spend money. Ads often attempt to infl uence your choices by appealing to your emotional side. They promote the idea that buying a product will make you look more attractive or be more popular. Most people want to wear clothes that are the current fashion. Perhaps you saw your favorite celebrity wearing a new style and you decided to buy a similar outfi t. Before choosing to follow the latest fashion trend, think about it. Will it soon go out of style?
